We were approached by Nazar Group to create a brand and manage a fitout for their new tenancy in Ponsonby Central. We decided to bring a piece of the Istanbul Street Food scene to Ponsonby Central.

I based the brand concept on Istanbul-Born 1960's screen siren, Türkan Åžoray. Women are the heart of traditional Turkish cuisine, and Türkan is the epitome of Turkish turn-of-the-century feminism. A fitting homage for the culturally and gender inclusive location.

The fitout was designed to promote a social eating environment, where the cooks can easily converse with the customers while sitting together and enjoying multiple sharing dishes, as it's done in central Istanbul. A Turkish Delight booth stands front and centre so passers by can see how the traditional treat is created. The colour palette is derived from pomegranate crimson and pistachio greens with an eclectic array of pots, pans, spices and preserves filling every corner.
