Al Brown wanted to host “A party for Grown ups without the push and shove.” there weren’t enough events for people his age, other than the standard food and wine festivals. He wanted to shake things up; to create an experience packed with genuinely memorable experiences while maintaining a relaxed atmosphere.
Our job was to turn the picturesque Nestelbrae Exotics near Helensville, into an unexpected maze of food, art, drinks, entertainment and music.
The event design, layout, seating, art installations and design production were handled by Hayley Brown, Paul Ny and myself. From concept development, to building, painting and dressing the individual stalls.

We honoured the natural beauty of the property of rambling plots of exotic fruit orchards and meandering forests. which lended itself perfectly to a multifaceted event.
Food stalls were intuitively tailored to their food offering, utilising repurposed timbers, steels barrels and pallets, which we transformed into visual focal points, blending respectfully into their surroundings with hand painted signage, eclectic personality pieces and massive attention to detail.
We also handled the art installations, producing some ourselves, The full sized mirror men hiding in the greenery, a giant hand-carved slingshot and 2 meter long colour pencils alongside Dick Frizzell’s interactive art wall to name a few. For the rest, we called upon various artists such as Gregor Kregar, to be a part of this unique event.

Dave Dobbyn singing in a forest, 24 Lambs on crucifixes, painting with Dick Frizzell, acrobatic performances and art in every corner. It was an unforgettable experience from conception to completion.
